The Society for Applied Microbiology regards high-quality, evidence-based microbiology education as critically important for our current and future well-being, as well as for informed decision making and effective global citizenship.
SfAM is committed to improving the workplace skills of ALL microbiologists, wherever they are located, to ensure they have the knowledge and resources to make in a difference in the field. SfAM also partners with industry leaders, academia and other learned societies to deliver engaging workshops, events, lectures and outreach activities to support the wider knowledge of applied microbiology.
The Society provides significant funding to support a range public engagement projects and grants to target those communities thirsty for knowledge about our subject area. We particularly encourage our members to host their own meetings, design their own educational resources or spread the word of applied microbiology through stand alone lectures.
