ECS committee vacancies

The ECS committee is made up of early career scientists who help organise the ECS symposium and other events throughout the year.

Our Early Career Scientist (ECS) Committee is the envy of the sector and have been making us proud for nearly a decade.

Responsible for organising and running the Annual ECS Symposium, the ECS Committee also make a real difference in the lives of our ECS membership by suggesting benefits, grants and activities for all early and mid-career scientists.

Our ECS Committee members get involved with all aspects of the Society including policy, social media, awards, meetings, communications and welfare.

Joining the committee is a wonderful way to get more involved with SfAM, make incredible friends and build a network of contacts that will stay with you throughout your career. You will also gain valuable experience, transferable skills and most importantly have a lot of fun.

The ECS Committee typically hold three to four meetings per year, depending upon initiatives, activities or events and the minimum commitment we expect from you would be:

  • Attend committee meetings via Zoom or in-person

  • Join the ECS Committee Whatsapp Group
  • Be enthusiastic and contribute
  • Be passionate about microbiology

At SfAM, we value diversity, promote equality, and are committed to reflecting the wider society. Our recruitment process is fair, transparent and based on merit. We particularly welcome applications from diverse and under-represented groups.
