Executive committee vacancies

The Executive Committee is SfAM’s governing body, responsible for the successful running of the organisation.

Please note the following vacancies are for members of SfAM only.

The Executive Committee (EC) is SfAM’s governing body, which comprises thirteen trustees, each of whom are responsible for the successful running of the organisation. The EC meets three times a year and is the only decision-making body of the Society: it develops and oversees the progress of SfAM’s strategy, defines policy, agrees the Society’s business plan and monitors the progress of all of SfAM’s activities.

Along with the Chief Executive of the Society the EC ensure the effective management and custody of all SfAM assets as they are used to deliver the Society’s charitable objectives. The roles and responsibilities of trustees are described here.

We invite you to nominate yourself or another SfAM member to stand for the position of trustee, which you can do via an online form below. Please ensure you have read and understood the disqualification criteria. Deadline: 11 May 2021.

We are also seeking expressions of interest for the role of General Secretary (GS) of the Society to serve an initial three year term to be appointed by the Executive Committee of trustees.

The GS works with the Chief Executive, President and the remaining trustees to set the strategic direction of the Society, including the high priority items for discussion, decision or celebration at EC meetings. This role will also deputise for the President where necessary and liaise regularly with the other Officers (President, Treasurer, Scientific Programmes Secretary and Chief Executive) to remain actively involved with relevant Society activity. The full Roles and Responsibilities can be found here.
