WH Pierce 2009: Katie Hopkins

Katie is Head of the Resistance Mechanisms Section within Public Health England's Antimicrobial Resistance and Healthcare Associated Infections (AMRHAI) Reference Unit at Colindale, which investigates the molecular basis of resistance to key antimicrobials within the Enterobacteriaceae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumannii. 

Katie received the award for her research into the development of a miniaturised microarray for the rapid identification of antimicrobial resistance genes in Gram-negative bacteria.
