WH Pierce 2013: Lori Snyder

Bacterial genome sequence data to conduct comparative analyses

Dr Lori Snyder is Associate Professor in the School of Life Sciences, Pharmacy, and Chemistry at Kingston University. Lori was awarded the prize for her work with microbial genome sequencing.

She began doing genomic analyses during her PhD at Emory University, USA, with Prof. Bill Shafer, where sheinvestigated Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Neisseria meningitidis. Work on these species continued during her post-doctoral research at the University of Oxford. As a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Birmingham, she worked on the xBASE genome database and its suite of analysis tools with Prof. Mark Pallen and Dr. Nick Loman.
